Lil Durk will have to wait nearly a year before he faces trial over his federal racketeering charges.
According to a report Complex published on Wednesday, September 30, U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald moved the trial from its original date of October 5 to August 30, 2027. Judge Fitzgerald initially set the date following the end of his murder-for-hire trial. Prosecutors wanted Durk, born Durk Banks, to face federal racketeering charges while he was on trial for the murder of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson. However, the judge ruled that the Chicago rapper should face those charges separately.
Grammy Award-winning rapper, born Durk Banks, was found not guilty of charges including conspiracy, two murder-for-hire charges, and more. During the trial, prosecutors argued that Banks hired five men to carry out a shooting aimed at rival rapper Quando Rondo in Los Angeles as retaliation after Rondo’s associate, Lul Tim, killed his friend King Von in 2020. They executed the shooting at a gas station in front of the Beverly Center, but only killed Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson.
