Pharrell Williams wants a judge to toss out Chad Hugo’s copyright lawsuit against him because he argues his former collaborator doesn’t even know which songs he composed himself.

According to a report Complex published on Wednesday, October 7, the multifaceted producer’s lawyers argued that Hugo didn’t identify a legitimate copyright claim in the amended lawsuit he filed in March. A previous version of Hugo’s lawsuit filed earlier this year listed eight songs he claimed to have produced. However, in a recent filing submitted earlier this year, Hugo only included one track, Earthgang’s“U Gotta.”

“The [complaint] does not say whether Hugo claims that he wrote music, wrote lyrics, played an instrument, performed on the master, programmed sounds that were incorporated into the master, recorded the master, mixed the master, creatively edited or otherwise manipulated the master, or did something else entirely,” Williams’ filing reads.
